ARIZONABTRLOGOS Arizona’s history
As an organization, we trace our origins back 39 years to the 1975 establishment of the Valley of the Sun Boston Terrier Club (VSBTC) which, until it was dissolved in 2008, was a local chapter of the Boston Terrier Club of America (a member of the AKC representing the interests of the breed and owners worldwide).
Over the years, the rescue committee of VSBTC operated on and off as Boston Terriers needing rescue or rehoming came to the attention of club members. As responsible breeders they knew that, in addition to improving and protecting the breed, it was also their obligation to help individual Bostons that needed new homes.
As rescue operations grew, and as more and more Boston Terriers needed help, the fledgling Valley of the Sun Boston Terrier Rescue (VSBTR) began to overshadow the founding club, and in 2005 it made sense to separate rescue operations and AZBTR was incorporated as an independent entity.  Many of the founding members of VSBTC, VSBTR, and AZBTR remain connected to rescue today because of their love of the breed.

Arizona Boston Terrier Rescue today:
AZBTR is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization that takes in adoptable Boston Terriers from many situations. We provide for their medical and behavioral needs and then place them in loving, permanent homes. All of our rescued dogs live with families in foster homes in Arizona.
We operate statewide and only very occasionally take in dogs from nearby states. We do not run a shelter or adopt out of state. While relatively small in size in a geographically large state, we do manage to rescue and find homes for approximately 50 – 80 deserving Bostons every year.

 NOTE FROM BOSTON TERRIER NETWORK:

Like most rescues, AZBTR must often fundraiser to provide the continual flow of needed funds to keep their operations healthy (i.e. vet bills). During the month of December 2015 AZBTR was selected to be the benefactor of the Monthly Facebook auction FOR THE LOVE OF BOSTONS AUCTION GROUP (FTLOBAG).

FTLOBAG is a 3 year old nonprofit online monthly auction is operated by volunteers. Since 100% of the funds raised during an auction go directly to the Boston Rescue, the funds are immediately available to pay off any outstanding medical bills and debts of operation and the like.  The funds raised through this auction each month, have been from $3000 -$8,000+, giving a brief relief for the operation. This has become such a reliable success story there is now almost a year of Rescues waiting their turn to be named the Rescue of the month.  We can never thank the almost 9,000 members enough for their continued support of these worthwhile rescues.

We are looking forward to helping the admins run yet another very successful auction in a series supporting Boston Rescues across the country. OREO

We are thankful for our network of supporters like you as well as our foster families!

This is Oreo, a very sweet senior in hospice who was surrendered to us in September and is currently being cared for by Cassie's foster family. Her medical conditions are debilitating to the point where she cannot be adopted out; however, her quality of life is high enough that with maintenance medication and she is able to spend her last months in a loving foster home dedicated to helping her cross the bridge when the time comes. We appreciate everything our supporters do: volunteering, fostering, and contributing. We give thanks for ALL you do!

 CASSIE

 Cassie

During the September 2014 Auction, AZBTR rescued a fifteen year old girl Cassie from the Maricopa County Arizona shelter. Remember her? When she was evaluated by the vet, it was clear that she was a hospice case. One of our loving volunteers gave her a home until she passed eight months later. It's your donations and support that give seniors like Cassie and others at rescues across the country a chance for a dignified end outside of an awful shelter environment. Thank you for all you do from Arizona Boston Terrier Rescue! http://azbtrescue.org

 DORI ARIZONAbtr

This month's auction benefits Arizona Boston Terrier Rescue. During the 5th through 9th of December 2015 For The Love of Bostons Auction Group is hosting an auction for AZBTR. Your donations help with medical expenses that exceed adoption fees.

One recent example is Dori. She was abandoned in the desert with a ruptured eye. She spent two days in the ER. Thanks to our supporters and loving foster care she was nursed back to health and was placed in a great foster home. Thank you in advance for your continuing acts of kindness.

Arizona Boston Terrier Rescue was contacted by a family whose child mishandled a five month old puppy. When the rescue posted that we needed a foster who could help nurse this girl through recovery from surgery, an amazing thing happened! One of the rescue's adoptive pet parents worked for an orthopedic vet who had just recently lost a dog and was looking for another. As fate would have it, this beautiful girl was fostered and adopted by the vet who also treated the injury at no charge. AZBTR loves our alumni and the support of our foster families! Thank you for your donations that help us help one (or two) Bostons at a time!

 tori

Tori is a young deaf Boston surrendered to AZBTR late last summer. At intake, one of Tori's eyes had ruptured and she had an emergency removal. Tori came to us with behavioral baggage, and thanks to countless sessions with the foster family and our volunteer trainer, who is also our intake coordinator; a little wild child has turned into a great little pet and is on her trial adoption period just in time for Christmas in a furever home. As of Dec 5th the auction is underway, we thank you for your continuing donations to the FTLOB December auction.
