TallulahCelebrates2Celebrating your pet this holiday season with this easy recipe, Holiday Paw Print Salt Dough Ornaments.  It Is so easy, Tallulah could easily make it!

Tallulah will celebrate her second birthday this year.  She is my constant companion both day and night.  We walk a minimum of two miles every day, we like to walk a maximum of six miles to keep us healthy.

She has helped me to get healthy and to keep my Parkinson’s in check.  I honestly owe her so very much!

When we put up the Christmas tree the other night, I was a little sad.

Everyone it the family was represented with a special ornament, with the exception of Tallulah.

I realized that it was time to make her a very special ornament all of her own.

So, I guarantee this is a very, very easy craft that anyone can handle.

  CHRISTMAS SALT DOUGH PAW PRINTS

2 C All Purpose Flour

½ C Salt

¾ C Warm Water

Mix together to form a loose ball and then knead on a floured countertop for 8-10 minutes or until the dough is completely smooth.  Add a little bit of flour if it is too sticky or a little bit of water if it is too crumbly.

Roll the dough out to 1/3” thickness, then cut into the shapes you desire.  Use cookie cutters for holiday shapes or simply use a can or a bowl for a clean circle.  Cut holes for the ornament hooks using a straw.

Place on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.  Help assist your dog by pressing her paw firmly into the dough.  Do not forget to give your dog a treat for doing such great work with helping you!

Bake the ornaments at 200F for four hours, then allow to cool completely (overnight preferably) on a cookie rack.

Paint your paw print in with acrylic paints in whatever color you choose, and also paint the edges for a clean crisp look.  Once dry, use a clear sealant for extra shine.  Allow that to dry, then hang the paw print up with love on your Christmas tree.
