Try this tail wagging frozen treat (for the dogs).
As a lover of yogurt while looking for  new summertime treats for the dogs to try, I came across this easy to make limited ingredient treat . The ease of preparing these ice cube treats is also helpful too. And being frozen means a great shelf life ready in a moment for hot weather outside treats. They are fantastic! Additional you can make a few for your human family too.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups yogurt (I make mine without sweetener)
  • 1.5 cups watermelon, puree
  • 2 tablespoons honey or other natural sweetener (optional)

Directions:bticecubetray1Place yogurt in container. Place watermelon in blender or food processor and puree. Mix and add honey if desired. Freeze in  molds.

Freezing Directions:
Alternate options include freezing in silicone muffin cups or Popsicle molds, or ice cube trays.. AFTER freezing, divide among quart freezer bags and refreeze. To serve: Remove from freezer molds serve as-is.

According to the ASPCA, feeding watermelon to dogs is not toxic. It should be noted however, that the seeds and rind could cause intestinal irritation. Watermelon is approximately 71% water. It is a source of vitamin C, potassium and magnesium. It is also considered an antioxidant. Most fruits are healthy sources of nutrition for dogs, and watermelon can be a part of a healthy canine diet.
